Ellsworth Road is about to get one speed limit
Ellsworth Road is set to run a single speed the whole way through Mesa. A city ordinance headed to the Mesa City Council would make 45 mph continuous end to end by lowering the one segment that still runs faster.
Key facts:
- What: a continuous 45 mph limit on Ellsworth Road from the north city limits to the south.
- The change: the stretch between Elliot Road and the south city limits drops from 50 mph to 45 mph.
- Who recommended it: Mesa's Transportation Advisory Board.
- Where it sits: District 6, the southeast council district that covers Eastmark.
- Next step: the Mesa City Council agenda, Aug 17.
Ellsworth is the eastern spine of this side of town, the arterial feeding Eastmark and the EastMarket retail going up at Ellsworth and Ray. Making the limit uniform takes out the spot where drivers currently speed up leaving the neighborhood grid.
The vote is scheduled for the council's Aug 17 meeting. Details.
