Boeing eyes a bigger footprint near Falcon Field
Boeing's Mesa manufacturing site is asking the city for room to grow, and the plan reaches Mesa's Design Review Board on Tuesday.
- What: a roughly 268,000 sq ft expansion of an existing manufacturing facility, filed as the "Boeing ACA Expansion."
- Where: a 38-acre site about 1,700 feet north of Greenfield and McDowell, in the Falcon Field employment area.
- When: Mesa's Design Review Board takes it up Tuesday, July 14.
- District: Council District 5.
Boeing is one of East Mesa's anchor aerospace employers, part of the aviation cluster that has built up around Falcon Field since the airfield's WWII origins. A 38-acre, quarter-million-square-foot addition points to a plant adding capacity, not trimming it. Details beyond the size and location were not in the filing.
The Design Review Board sets the site and building design; construction timelines would come separately. The filing.

It sits at the southwest corner of Signal Butte and Rubidium and now awaits a final council vote. The staff report.
A trade-zone deal near Sossaman goes to council. The city is set to sign a Foreign Trade Zone agreement (a customs designation that lets goods be stored and processed with deferred duties) with Arrow Global Supply Chain Services for three sites on East Pecos and South Sossaman.
