261 apartments head to Planning and Zoning Wednesday
A 261-unit apartment complex with a small retail strip is proposed for the southwest corner of Signal Butte and Rubidium, and it goes before Mesa's Planning and Zoning Board this week.
Key facts:
- What: "Homestead at Eastmark," 261 apartments plus 2.2 acres of retail and commercial space.
- Where: Southwest corner of South Signal Butte Road and East Rubidium Avenue, on about 11.7 acres.
- When: Planning and Zoning Board public hearing, Wednesday, June 24.
- Status: City staff recommends approval with conditions. The site is in council District 6.
The project would add rental housing to a stretch of Eastmark that has been mostly for-sale single-family homes, on a corner already lined up for more growth as the area builds out east of Signal Butte.
What to watch: the board's recommendation moves to City Council for the final vote. The staff narrative is here.
